A very interesting government program that is a cooperation between the US Federal Government, your local state, and your even more local county that was created to bring scientific methods of living and production to the family farm. Obviously, it had to find other purposes as time has passed, but you find their rural-life focus even in their modern practice. Hopefully, not yet ready to slip into anachronism.
