2001, Nov.4 Subject : mulinux: about FAQ 3.9 Hi Robert, I recently downloaded the _fantastic_ mu-linux (vers. 12r2, called 'Babilonia' ... I don't know why ... due to its meaning of confusion!) and found a trouble on reading (.exe) files loaded in a mounted floppy. The FAQ 3.9 shown underneath hasn't be clear enough to solve the problem and then I'm asking you the courtesy to help me. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Question: 3.9 I have compiled (gcc) a hello.c application under my Red Hat 2.0.36 kernel host environment, but I am not able to run it on a muLinux 10r2 !?!?!? Answer: The kernel is not the problem. You must check with ldd what are the required shared C-Libraries: libc5? libc6? Furthermore: did you set the executable flag (chmod +x command)? Is the command in the path? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Let me tell you what I've done: 1- Booting mu-linux: floppy #1, called BOOT (2 addons: X11,GCC) 2- Executing: mount /dev/fd0 /mnt (well done) (file spline.exe, coming from a previous gcc-compilation, resides in the floppy) 3- Executing: cd /mnt (well done) 4- Checking: ls *.exe (right, spline.exe detected) 5- Executing: chmod +x spline.exe (well done) 6- Executing: ./spline.exe Result: Some _ human unreadable_ characters appear on the screen along with the most of Unix commands. The only way to proceed on is ... rebooting !!! End of story ... up to now, Robert. Please, be kind enough to let me know something about. Thanking in advance, I remain Joe (Giuseppe Matarazzo) from Siracusa - Italy ---------------------
