Hardware Requirements

To install BIOS Version 1.11 you need the following:

* User BIOS upgrade diskette
* Stylistic 1200 computer with bootable HDD with Windows for Workgroups
  or Windows 95
* Stylistic external keyboard or compatible PS/2-style keyboard
* Stylistic 1200 port replicator
* Stylistic external floppy disk drive
* AC adapter / power cord


Stylistic 1200 BIOS 1.11 Upgrade Procedure

1.  Attach the port replicator to the Stylistic 1200

2.  Attach the AC adapter / power cord, external keyboard, and external
    floppy drive to the Stylistic 1200

3.  Boot the Stylistic 1200 and run BIOS Setup by pressing F2 or double
    tapping on the screen when prompted.

4.  Configure the following BIOS parameters:
    Boot Options: [Boot Sequence is A: then C:]
    Power Savings: [Off]

5.  Save changes and exit BIOS Setup  after the parameters listed are
    configured. After the changes are saved the system will reboot.

6.  To install BIOS V1.11 you will need to make the Stylistic 1200 BIOS
    V1.11 diskette into a bootable diskette.   To do this perform the
    following steps:

	* Run MS-DOS and insert the Stylistic 1200 BIOS V1.11 Upgrade
      Diskette into the external floppy diskette drive.  Make sure that
      the diskette is not write protected.  NOTE:  If you are using
      Windows 95, you can open an MS-DOS box to run MS-DOS.

    * At the MS-DOS C: prompt type SYS A: and press ENTER.  The system
      files are copied to the floppy diskette and the message "System
      transferred" appears.

7.  Leave the diskette in the floppy drive and reboot the system.  The
    system boots from the floppy drive and the following selection menu is
    displayed:

    1. Upgrade Stylistic 1200 to BIOS Version 1.11
    2. Quit

    Choose a selection:

8.  Enter 1 to proceed with the upgrade.

    The system displays a window describing the steps taken to upgrade
    the BIOS.  As the BIOS installation proceeds, a status bar on the
    screen displays the percentage of ROM erased.  After the BIOS has
    been erased, another status bar will appear indicating the amount
    of ROM programmed.

9. When the BIOS installation process is complete (usually less than a
   minute) the system displays the following message.

                        PhoenixPhlash Status

            Flash memory has been successfully programmed

                 PRESS ANY KEY TO RESTART THE SYSTEM

                   If the system does not restart

                     TURN THE POWER OFF, THEN ON


    Press the space bar to reboot the system.  Note: The FDD  may
    continue to spin.

9.  While the system is performing the POST (Power On Self Test), remove
    the diskette from the floppy drive so that the system boots from drive
    C.

10. Watch the screen during the boot process and observe that the BIOS
    Version displayed is now Stylistic 1200 Version 1.11.

The BIOS upgrade is complete.
