March 4, 2013 Dear Mama, Hey, how are ya? Ya gotta be doing better than me. During Relief Society yesterday (it is Monday) my back started hurting really bad. I thought maybe my kidneys since I had been fasting for 24 hours and really needed some water. So, I got home and drank some water (after ending my fast), and got lunch on the table. I couldn't eat half of what was on my plate and decided to go lay down. Then I realized I had forgotten to take my antibiotic. This thing is nasty. It leaves a bitter taste in your mouth and does not go away and makes everything taste bitter, even water. But like a good little girl, I took it and went to bed. After about an hour I asked Jay to give me a blessing. Not five minutes later I was vomiting and had diarrhea for the rest of the night. On top of all that, still a lot of back pain, and chills and fever. This morning (Monday), I am doing better but feeling very weak and still back discomfort. I had Jay bring the kids to the bus stop. I have an appointment in Clovis on Thursday but I am going to try to have that moved up. I can't imagine having more days like yesterday. Did I mention that the results from my ultrasound was an inflamed gallbladder? I am sure that all of yesterday was a result of this. Last Monday was a snow day (the first one for the year). The boys were so excited. There was about 6 to 8 inches. The boys had fun playing in it. By that night Josh started coming down with a cold. We all sat around and watched Jeeves and Wooster, some British comedy. However, it was the kind of British comedy I could deal with. I hate that Monty Python type. Ugh. But Jeeves and Wooster was clean and fun with some dry humor, much better. Wednesday, I took Jay to Clovis for an eye exam and to help him pick out new frames. His prescription didn't change very much, but his frames were so old they were falling apart. It was pretty funny though because Jay told the eye doctor that I thought Jay's glasses were out of style and needed something more up to date. The eye doctor looked at Jays glasses and took off his own and put them side by side and they were the same style! Hahaha!! Oh well... Picking out his frames, all of the girls thought his new frames looked really well on him, and he had them laughing the whole time. We were in his company car and he had to go get an oil change and do a few things in Portales and then we went to lunch at his favorite Chinese buffet. He really likes their salmon and, you know me, I don't cook seafood so this is the only time he gets any. Then we headed home. While I was cooking supper, Jay went to get the boys from Coach Thompson's house. It makes our trips shorter and we waste less gas. Josh still gets to drive home and get in some night driving. Thursday, I had to take Brenna to Albuquerque to her dental surgeon to find out the cause of pain and swelling in her lower left jaw. She had bit into a potato wedge at work and heard and felt a great big crack! Well, the guy said she has a fractured jaw. It is microscopic but she needs to eat a soft diet for the next four weeks. She groaned about that because she is tired of soft foods. He gave her an ultimatum, to either eat the soft foods for a month, or he would wire her jaws together for 6 weeks and she can survive on a liquid diet. She agreed to do soft foods. So, we went and bought a blender to make it a bit easier on her as my motor on my Vita Mixer is near dead. While we were traveling home, Jay went and got the twins from the bus stop. Josh had a basketball game that night, so while Jay and the twins were at Mutual, I went to Josh's game, which they won. I actually gave Josh the opportunity to drive home on the Interstate, but he didn't feel comfortable doing his first Interstate drive at night, he'd rather do it in daylight. So we drove home the back way on Rt. 66 and he did a great job. There was a Stake Adult Dance on Friday night, but Jay and I didn't go. I wasn't feeling all that great and wanted to stay close to home. Nobody likes being sick away from home. We watched Hachi. The boys didn't watch it with us. They had seen it at school and they said, "It will make you cry". Instead, they watched Harry and the Hendersons on the computer upstairs. Saturday, the twins brought down there laundry to start working on it and Jay had a cow because the pile was about as tall as they were and he insisted that there was no way that two boys could produce that much laundry in a week. So, I made them separate their clothes and start washing it and then I went up to their room and spent the morning going through their closets and drawers, throwing out clothes that were torn, threadbare, or stained to the max, and putting good clothes that were way too small for them in a bag (filling a 33 gallon garbage bag), and helping them put their clothes in totally empty drawers. Meanwhile, Jay and Josh tackled the wood in the back yard making a stacked wood pile from the pile next to the back fence that has sat there for the last 15 years. The ground underneath is gorgeous mulch and so that is where we are planning to put our garden this year. There are still some smaller sticks back there and we will have to rake those out. Shayna had her art auction on Friday. She called because she was so nervous. She had to dress up, and her roomies took her shopping and helped her pick out a dress and she said she looks like a girl in it--Yay! It's about time!-- and she was getting her hair trimmed and styled so she would look like a professional. She had two pieces that were judged to be good enough to go to auction and she sent us pictures that was taken for the brochure. One was a bright pastel and the other was a sculpture. She was supposed to go and mingle with everyone and answer questions about her art. She just wanted to go hide in the balcony. I told her to relax, that she would do just fine. She told Josh that those pieces were her babies and they were going to be sold and Josh told her she needed to call CYFD (Children's Youth and Families Division). We finally heard back from her this morning and she said she survived the auction and her two pieces made $200. So, she is making some money off this talent of hers which is good because I never did that. She is feeling a lot of pressure as graduation approaches trying to get everything done that needs getting done. She is walking across stage. The money is nonrefundable and some guy who paid found out he is failing a class and will not be graduating, so he is giving Shayna his slot that he paid for. Jay is late for work and he needs to send this off for me, so I gotta go. I love ya, your 4th, Lisa
