The smartest people today are illegal immigrant husband/fathers who leave their families in the "old" country and send remittances back to provide a better life for the family. I did something like this for many years, economizing my own life to get more money for my family.

thinking that you whole family should come to a more prosperous place is a hope that everyone economizing will work out for the best. America has a few pe4sistent issues that break the hope. we import nearly everything at a relatively (to other countries) high cost, most painfully our foodstuffs and basic needs. I think this is why many thinking retirees relocate to more productive countries with their pensions. America has priced itself out of the basic-living market.
